Motor oil

Motor oil is an important consumable. It is designed to reduce the friction force of the rubbing parts of the engine, to remove excess heat. It is important to monitor the level of the fuel and refill it as needed. Without lubrication the motor will collapse very quickly.

The products of each well-known brand are unique from this point of view – corporations independently develop various additives. With their help, they achieve fuel economy, reduce the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, improve the characteristics of the power unit, extend its service life.

Depending on the composition, all oils are divided into 3 large groups:

Synthetic – derived from the synthesis of various substances and oil. This is the most modern type of product. “Synthetic” is better retains its properties when conditions change – load dynamics, ambient temperature, etc. That is why it is so popular today. But the price of these oils, as a rule, the highest.

Semisynthetics – 30–50% consists of a synthetic base, 50–70% of mineral (refined and processed oil). They are recommended to be poured into modern engines with high mileage.

Mineral – is fuels and lubricants obtained by treating oil that have no additives. Their quality depends on the technology and quality of processing. This type of lubricant is used for old engines, cars with high mileage. They are not stable in terms of viscosity-temperature changes greatly affect the rate. The price of these products is the lowest, as they are easier to produce. They are suitable if you do not plan to use the vehicle in harsh environments.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)

SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers – “Community of Automotive Engineers”). The organization has existed for over 100 years. Today, she is actively engaged in the development of standards for petroleum products. Marking on SAE will tell about the viscosity of the oil and the change of this indicator with temperature. In fact, it determines the temperature range of the substance.

Each brand offers products with unique properties and ensures that its oil will protect the engine better than any other, and its price is fully consistent with the quality. Nevertheless, you should not believe advertising slogans – you should trust the facts. For example, the recognition of a particular oil by large automakers is a weighty argument, and the assertion that fuel and lubricants “ save the engine better than other substances” is difficult to verify. In any case, initially you need to be guided by the correspondences to one or another type of engine, specifications, and characteristics, and then look at the promises of the manufacturer.
